POETRY STAR is an interactive, entertaining program which teaches you about poetry and Artificial Intelligence, generates random poetry, and collaborates with you line by line to produce 1 poem each time you run it. It is written in the Artificial Intelligence computer programming language INRAC, which enables POETRY STAR to understand what you write--almost as if you were using your keyboard to write notes or instructions to another human being. The program runs in the form of a dialogue with the user, which is saved to the file INRAC.OUT. POETRY STAR includes a line editor for honing your creations, but you can also work on them by renaming INRAC.OUT and editing it with your favorite text editor. INRAC.OUT can also be printed or displayed on the screen.
You don't have to be a poet to use and enjoy POETRY STAR. However, if you are a poet, or would like to write poetry, this program really can be useful in providing ideas, inspiration, and off-the-wall lines you never would've thought of otherwise.
Note: After unzipping the downloaded file, and before running the program, copy the uncompressed POETRY STAR files to a backup disk and IMMEDIATELY run the file FIX.BAT by typing FIX at the DOS prompt. The INRAC language in which this program is written requires certain files bearing the INRAC extension ".ZIP"; these are NOT files requiring decompression with the program PKUNZIP (or any other decompression program)!
